THE BATTLE OF UNISON
The Civil War in Loudoun County
OCTOBER 26-28, 2012

This year’s event is built on the success of previous events in this historic and pristine area of Loudon County in northern Virginia. The event portrays the action which occurred around the village of Unison in early November, 1862. The event is by invitation only, with all proceeds going to the preservation of this historically important area.

This will be a mobile campaign event with all participants expected to meet both the historical standards and the physical requirements of marching six or more miles, fording streams, and carrying all of your own equipment for the weekend.

The event will “go live” Friday evening at approximately 8PM and will wrap up no later than 12 noon on Sunday. Federal participants will camp Friday night on a private farm near the village of Philomont, while CS forces will encamp at historic Welbourne Manor. Both Federal and Confederate participants will follow the footsteps of their historic counterparts throughout the day on Saturday, marching and skirmishing on original roads, and crossing the original fords. Saturday night both sides will encamp near the village of Unison before beginning their withdrawal on Sunday morning.

All participants should expect to march and soldier as their historic counterparts did. Be prepared for unexpected historical circumstances, and period adversity. This is a semi-immersion event, but first person is strongly encouraged.
